In Struggle: Past and Present
Acts of Resistance on Film

Saturday, August 16, 2014 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Civil disobedience. Protests. Sit ins. Marches. Rallies. Acts of resistance can take many forms but the message is the same: we need change NOW!

Join Wing Luke Museum for a special screening of two films that showcase and explore Asian American acts of resistance.

Wing Luke Museum and ACT Theatre present a screening of "Conscience and the Constitution" by filmmaker, Frank Abe. In WWII, a group of men refused to be drafted  to protest their unjust incarceration in American concentration camps. Follow their story and its ongoing influence generations later.

In conjuction with the current exhibition, "In Struggle: Asian American Acts of Resistance", activism efforts of the past and present are on display in a short documentary by Kevin Owyang. The film is also on view in the exhibit's audience interactive kiosk.

Both filmmakers will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening.
